Loose Hip Implant Symptoms
A loose hip implant can cause pain and reduced walking after a previously functioning hip replacement. Loosening may affect the socket, the femoral stem or both components.
Key Guidance
Possible symptoms include groin pain, thigh pain, start-up pain, limp and reduced walking distance.
Serial X-rays and sometimes CT or blood tests may be needed.
Infection, spine pain and tendon problems must be ruled out before assuming loosening.
